Back to Our Sheep
Back to Our Sheep is a research-oriented project mapping the current state of the wool ecosystem in Transylvania and Banat, Romania. Despite the country’s rich pastoral heritage and once-thriving wool-processing industry, the past 30 years have seen the disappearance of much of this infrastructure and a shift in the perception and use of wool. Calling Back to Our Sheep is an attempt to renew awareness of wool’s potential and reconnect with the nature of this fibre as a way of rethinking our relationship with the environment.
I SEASON WITH ANTS

Fleece, Flora & Fauna - Összefonódás

Ishq de Baajhon Bia Sabh Koorrh
A short moving-image work reflecting on love as an ethic of making, living and resisting. Bringing together images of industrial production with those of indigenous and craft communities, the film considers two very different relationships with material, labour and the more-than-human world.
Care x Wools
Care x Wools explores wool through the lens of care, beginning from the sheep’s point of view and drawing attention to the socio-ecologies connected to this material. Through three short films and public discussions with practitioners from pastoralism, traditional crafts, textile engineering, design, and production, the programme brings together different forms of knowledge and experience.
Refugio
A short film which follows the making of Steph Orozco’s 2027 Spring/Summer presentation at Stockholm Fashion Week. It began with a personal desire to document the intimate, often unseen moments leading up to a fashion show. Reaching out to Steph, Faraj asked if he could make a short film, and she graciously welcomed him into her world of creativity, identity, craftsmanship, and care.
Umkhosi Wezimbokodo
Umkhosi Wezimbokodo is a short film by The Ninevites that honors the heritage of South African Mohair and the extraordinary women artisans who bring it to life. The film traces the journey begins on the farms where the yarn is nurtured and follows the raw material into the hands of skilled local craftswomen, culminating in the creation of a masterfully finished product.
DESI OON
In this heartfelt six-minute film, wool itself becomes the storyteller, voicing the neglect it has suffered for generations. Once a sacred bond between humans, animals, and nature, wool now stands forgotten in the wake of urbanisation and industrial change. Desi Oon is also a tribute to the revered shepherd Balumama, who dedicated his life to nurturing and protecting the Deccani sheep, a breed deeply rooted in the heritage of sustainable pastoralism.
RAÍZ- RELIQUIA
RAÍZ- RELIQUIA begins with its collection, built entirely from Malena’s grandmother's garments, to ask what stories survive in a fabric once its owner is no longer there. The film follows the process of reconstructing those garments with interviews, family photo archive and workshop shots to show upcycling not as a production technique, but as an act of care and shared memory.
Her en Der
Her en Der (Here and There) is a short film about the collapsing value of sheep's wool in the Benelux and the disappearance of an industry that provided many with vital and beautiful products, a loss for shepherds and for society at large. The film is a portrait of shepherd Daphne Hogeweg, marching through Texel with the sheep she holds dear and calling for a revaluation of the fibre that has kept us warm for centuries.
