We talk with Lavinia Ghimbasan about her film and research-oriented project Back to Our Sheep mapping the current state of the wool ecosystem in Transylvania and Banat, Romania. We discuss design as a mediation tool between the forgotten, the archaic, the small-scale and the industrial and get to know how her project prototypes new forms of collaboration and production.

Back to Our Sheep was developed in 2024 as part of Faber’s Design Signals Programme in Timișoara. The project was presented in 2025 at Alcova during Milan Design Week and at the Romanian Design Week. Currently, it is part of the Wool Ecologies exhibition at the Museum of Urban Civilisation in Brașov, Transylvania.
