“I have knitted two slip-overs, one for a child (6y) and one for an adult (parent or grandparent). They serve as a canvas for an embroideried version of a children’s drawing… The end result then is matching slip-overs!”
When did you start knitting?
Already at a young age my mother taught me. She was a fanatic knitter too. Been knitting eversince. Sometimes more sometimes less…. Since 7 years refound it as a point of calm and relaxation and am like my mum was: a real fanatic!
What's your craft origin story?
Studied arts and have always worked a lot ‘with my hands’. Still work at a design school as it is close to the creative process!
What technique did you use for your regional wool project?
Knitting and embroidery
How many hours did it take you to compete?
Knitting: 40 + 80 hours, dying wool: 10 hours, embroidery: 3 hours
What was the inspiration for your project?
A shirt I saw of a mother with her child’s drawing on it…
What did you discover from using regional wool in your project?
There are a lot of creative and enthusiastic knitters, spinners, weavers in Eindhoven region!
What were the trial and error of the project?
Dyeing with natural dye was new to me…
What does knitting/weaving/spinning/crochet do for you personally?
Gives me relaxation, enjoyment and satisfaction! Is a. Is a creative space for me
Do you have any tips for people who want to work with wool in their own projects? And why would you recommend it?
Knitting is a joy and very easy to learn. Wool is a versatile material, natural and friendly for the environment.
