“Through this project, I discovered how amazing raw wool truly is. It’s versatile for many different designs, and after washing, it becomes even more beautiful. I also believe it’s important to support regional wool, as it celebrates local traditions and helps sustain the craft.”
When did you start knitting/weaving/crochet?
I’ve started to knit one year ago
What's your craft origin story? Tell us a bit about yourself!
I’ve always loved creating things from scratch, which is why I started sewing years ago—and I still enjoy it today. About a year and a half ago, I came across some beautiful knitting projects on social media. At first, I tried it with the wrong tools and materials and thought it wasn’t for me. But after a while, I realized I just needed more practice. With patience, I made my very first sweater using a pattern I found online, and that’s when everything changed. One sweater turned into many, and step by step I discovered how much joy knitting brings me. And now, here I am, excited to be part of this project.
What technique did you use for your regional wool project?
My project is quite simple—it’s made only of purls and knits, repeated in a gentle rhythm to create the pattern.
Can you write a short summary of your project?
This project was an amazing experience to be part of, as it gave us the opportunity to learn more than just to knit a garment. I also met wonderful people, and it’s truly great how it brought us all together.
How many hours did it take you to compete?
I didn't count, so I’m not sure. But I think around 100 hours
What was the inspiration for your project?
This design was my inspiration, as I wanted to highlight the natural structure of the wool. With just simple knits and purls, it creates beautiful patterns that truly showcase the yarn’s character
What were the trial and error of the project?
In this project, I didn’t encounter any errors because before I began knitting, I created a sample and carefully counted my stitches. Nowadays, it’s wonderful that there are designers who sell their patterns and explain everything step by step, making the process so much easier and enjoyable.
What does knitting do for you personally?
Knitting calms me down and makes me happy because I can wear things I’ve made myself and I take good care of those garments
