Explore natural dyeing while rethinking your relationship with clothing.
We’re inviting you on 20 May to join the workshop by Simone Cooijmans, from 15:30–17:00 at the NOOF lab.
Simone is an Industrial Design student at TU/e exploring how material engagement can reconnect people to their clothing. Her Master graduation project investigates natural dyeing as both a practice and a speculative tool, encouraging more caring and sustainable relationships with textiles by combining hands-on making with reflection on the future of the fashion system.
In this workshop, you will learn the basics of dyeing with flower and food-waste and experience the process. Alongside this, you will be introduced to the impact of synthetic dyes and the complexity of the textile industry.
You will also take part in an exercise set in 2050, where synthetic dyes no longer exist. This will help you imagine your role in a more sustainable textile system, while developing a more conscious and caring approach to clothing.
